John Uresti, age 61, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2011. John was born July 25, 1950 in Port Huron, Michigan to Eulalio and Petra Uresti, the youngest of 9 brothers and sisters. He grew up in Port Huron, graduating from Port Huron High School in 1969. He worked for Ford Motor Company and retired after 34 years.

John met his wife of 37 years, Susan Gall at work. They were married August 31, 1974 in Michigan and held their reception in Sarnia, Canada.

In addition to working full-time at Ford, John was a real estate entrepreneur. With Susan, they bought homes, renovated them together and sold them so many times that Susan replied, "Why bother to unpack." Securing a financial future for his family was them the primary motivation for this "hobby."

John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and cheering on the Detroit teams. He was especially a diehard Lions fan. John loved listening to music, especially classic rock and Christian contemporary music. He had a sense of humor and especially appreciated the comedyu of the Three Stooges. Debating with friends how many times Moe, Larry, and Curley were slapped, for example, was a favorite pastime.

John reaffirmed his decision to follow the Lord on August 15, 2010. He was a charter member of Lakepointe Church, Macomb, Michigan and volunteered as an usher, greeter and wherever he was needed. He was a regular at the weekly men's prayer breakfast.

John is survived by his loving wife, Susan, and his children, Stephanie, Ashlee, and Travis Uresti, all whom were the center of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Kathy Sparacino, Madalena Guerrero, Philip Uresti, Lou Uresti, Esther Uresti, and Victoria Uresti.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 12-2PM at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank Rd (S. of 21 Mile) Macomb Township, Michigan 48044. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2PM the same day. Cremation will follow.
