Mary Alice Gawlowski, age 60 of Macomb Twp., passed away June 13, 2014 after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. Beloved wife of thirty years to James. Loving mother of James Jr. and Joseph. Daughter of Elsie Celeste West and the late Robert Cresswell West. Sister of Robert III, Julie (Stephen), Martin (Melanie), Madelyn and the late Matthew West. Also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Graduate of Detroit Denby High School and Wayne State University. Retired from the Detroit Police Dept. and proud member of the Detroit Police/Fire Retiree Association.

Dearest Mary,

Voices in my head come and go
through moments of joy and tears of sorrow,
wondering why we're dealt with such a blow, and
realizing, too, there will be very few tomorrows.

While we squeeze in the smiles and make the conversation light,
the heart speaks volumes like no other delight.
We remember the times we shared through the years,
for these moments are precious, near and dear.

Mary, as we ride along this journey with you,
we know, at some point, we must pause to let go.
But, the angels are spreading their wings,
taking you into their fold,
embracing you, into the Lord's kingdom to behold.

The voices in my head may cry for a while,
yet these tears won't last long, even though they may sting.
Keeping your memory alive in all the good that we do,
is the best gift we can give you as you receive your wings.

As much as we love you, Mary, we will always remember,
you love us, too.

From your family.

A more personal tribute is being composed by Mary's family. Please check back periodically.

Thank you.
