Barbara Ann O'Connor, age 73 of Shelby Township, passed away October 9, 2014. Barbara was an Insurance Claims Clerk for many years, a dutiful church volunteer at the St Therese of Lisieux Parish, and above all else, a loving mom, grandma, sister and friend to many.

Barbara is survived by her children, Julie O'Connor, Terri (Rick) Simon, James (Paula) O'Connor and Michael O'Connor; nine grandchildren; siblings, Mike (Joann) Karam, Linda (the late Steve) Mutz, John (Rose) Karam and also survived by many extended loved ones and dear friends.

When we were asked to write a more personal tribute about our mom we sat down as a family and just talked about the person she was.
-Mom was always our biggest supporter during any sport we ever played, in fact the refs may not have known her name but they certainly knew her voice.
-She was the taxi to practice for many kids in the neighborhood.
-She even filled in as manager of our baseball teams when Dad was unable to be there. She never lost a game by the way.
-Although she only had the 4 of us kids, she had many of our friends call her "Mom".
-As we grew older and started our own families she turned her focus on her grand kids, attending Football games, Basketball games, Wrestling matches, Dance
recitals and Band concerts.
-When our kids were young we had Sunday dinner at Grandma's just so she could see her Grand kids one more time that week.
-Mom was a loyal Detroit Sports fan (as long as they were winning).
-She was an avid mall walker where she made new friends that she referred to as "family"
-When she was around her grand kids you literally could see the joy in her face.
-Mom was all of these things and much, much more.
-We are honored to have spent our time calling her Mom.

Thank you.
