Michael Tracy was born June 8, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. Michael and his siblings grew up on the eastside, and Michael's father, Arthur, worked at Ford Motor Company to support his growing family.

Even as a youth and teenager, Mike was very active and enjoyed playing football during his high school years. One day, while playing pool with friends at Kelly Cue Pool Hall, Mike challenged the very attractive Kris Schrodt to play against him. Mike not only won the match, but won Kris' heart as well.

The two were united in marriage October 2, 1976 at the Regina High School Chapel. Mike attended Macomb Community College during this time and worked at Chatham Supermarket to put himself through school. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management. Mike and Kris would later relocate to Warren, Michigan where their family would grow. A son, David was born and a daughter, Shannon, would follow eighteen months later. In 1985, the family moved to Macomb Township where Mike would live the rest of his life.

Mike was a very skilled salesman and worked his way up to a managerial position first at New York Carpet World and later at World of Floors. He had a very strong work ethic and never called in sick. Mike retired from Home Depot when he became ill.

When Mike was not working hard he could be found at home or abroad doing a number of activities. He was always on the go with his friends and family. Each Monday was "Pineapple Poker Night" with his buddies; Thursday was the travelling golf game day; Saturday was movie night (his favorites being 3-D movies of all genres) with Kris. Spare time was filled with board games, roller blading, pickle ball (imagine tennis meets ping-pong), gambling at Greektown Casino…

Mike and his family made frequent fishing trips to Grayling and to amusements parks of all types; water parks, music parks and ski trips. He and Kris would take their yearly cruises. Most recently they had cruised around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and visited the Vatican.
At home Mike was the "Grille Master" and was famous in his neighborhood for his barbecue ribs. It did not have to be a holiday for Mike to celebrate life; each day was a new adventure that he embraced whole heartedly.

Even when Mike was diagnosed with Lou-Gehrig's Disease in November of 2012, his adventurous spirit could not be suppressed. Though the disease began to rob him of his ability to walk, just last May he was in his motorized wheelchair in the Bahamas enjoying the time he had left with his family as he had always done.

On the morning of August 4th, 2013, Michael Tracy began his greatest adventure yet. He lived an extremely full life with no regrets, no fears and left us with memories that will last for eternity.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Kris Tracy; children, Dave (Shannon) Tracy and Shannon Tracy; his granddaughter, Emma who is due November 15th; siblings, Phil Tracy and Mary Jo (Ron) Gillingham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom he cherished.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Patrick Tracy and Mark Tracy.

God bless you Kris. There are so many things I never knew about you. I am so sorry for your loss. We will have to talk at the store, one day, when you come back. Obviously you and Mike grew up around here. I went to Regina High, and also frequented Kelly's Cue, many years ago. Please take care! I know you are a good person, after all, good people, rescue cats. I know now, there is so much more to your life.

It has been an honor to know Mike for over 20 years. One of my fondest memories will always be days spent at the tax office & Mike mixing up Danette & my name and it being habit that he called us Danonna ( pronounced Da non na). Mike was a great guy, wonderful card player & someone that seemed to be able to fix anything with a smile on his face! You will be missed Mike.
